FAQ
Where are we going and when?
Scotland!
In the fall of 2026 NESU Excursion will head to Edinburgh, where we’ll be surrounded by history, culture and great drinks. We’re staying in the Old Town, but our exploration of the city won’t end there. The trip will take place in September, so mark 9.9.-14.9. to your calendars!
How much does it cost?
The final price will be announced later,
when all activities and major sponsors have been locked in 🙂
The price will be somewhere between 150-300€.
What is included in the price?
The core structure of NESU Excursion includes your hostel accommodation at the destination for the whole duration of the trip. All group activities are included in the price. There are usually two sightseeing activities we do as a group, and a party on Saturday. The week also includes events with food, company visits and a team competition.
Flights are not included in the price due to people flying from different countries at different times, which causes prices to vary.
How many people are coming?
We will choose 52 participants from around the Nordic countries and Estonia. We establish quotas per country (and possibly per city) to ensure a diverse range of countries. The selections are done by drawing random names from each quota, adding people from other countries’ quotas until the slots are filled.
Besides the participants our team of 12 will be right there with you!
Can I participate?
Short answer:
if you live in the Nordics or Estonia and study business, YES!
There is no long answer.
Just make sure you have that week (mostly) off work and school so you can make the most of the Excursion
Where do we stay in Edinburgh?
A hostel in the Old Town. You will share a room with x other participants. [More details to be added :D] Use this opportunity to get to know each other: go eat together, share juicy gossip from the week and link up!
Who is the organizer?
Nordiska Ekonomie Studerandes Union (NESU) is an organization formed to enhance inter-Nordic co-operation between student unions of business schools in the Nordic countries.
NESU has been active since the 1950’s as a non-political non-profit organization aimed for university level business students in the Nordic countries. NESU does not carry membership fees, which means that even though you might not have know, you’re a member of NESU if you study business in the Nordics or Estonia!
NESU offers its members an efficient way to get to know Nordic business life and to create a network of contacts between Nordic business students. This network can, in addition to it being a network of friends, be very useful and important in your future career. The Excursion is just one of NESU’s various events. What should I expect from the trip?
How do I apply?
A Google Forms application form will appear on this page for the duration of the application period, 19.4.-3.5.
You apply by filling out the form with your basic information, like name, email and country of residence. That’s all there is to it! Some time after the application period has ended, you will receive an email on whether luck favored you or not. If you did not get chosen, you may inform the organizing team that you wish to stay in the waitlist in case someone cancels.
What if I want to cancel?
Cancellation is possible at one stage of the application process:
If you have applied to the Excursion and get chosen, but have changed your mind, you can inform our team that you want to let your spot go by responding to the acceptance email. After this you cannot reclaim the spot if you change your mind again, and we will find someone else from the queue will be chosen in your place. At this point it is not your responsibility to ensure there is someone to take your place.
However, if you confirm your participation after being selected, cancellation is only possible if someone else is willing to take your place. If there is no one available, you have accepted to pay the participation fees.
In short:
Get chosen
-> accept spot / let spot go
Canceling after accepting spot
-> Have someone replace you / pay participation fees
What is the application like?
The application is done with Google Forms. The form will ask you questions like your name, email and country. The application form is fast to answer and doesn’t require a motivation letter or anything like that. Once you’ve been chosen and accepted your spot, you will receive another form concerning your accomodation preferences and dietary restrictions.
Can I apply with a friend?
You and your friend can apply with your own application forms, but since we draw random participants from each country / city quota, we cannot guarantee that both of you will be chosen. The less people apply from your location, the better your chance is to be both chosen. If you don’t want to participate without your friend, you can decline your spot if chosen, or hope that your friend gets a cancellation spot.
Even if you come alone, you’ll be set up with and introduced to loads of other business students to befriend!
How do I know this is legit?
Almost a week in Scotland for less than 300€? Sounds too good to be true?
Best believe it : -) NESU Excursions have been organized annually for 3 years now, each time with great success.
